In January 2026, the Harcourt Co-op Cool Stores - and most of our wine - was destroyed by bushfire. This part of the series is our Macedon Ranges Pinot Shiraz, which is light, chillable and quietly structured. We are so grateful to our community for helping us bring together these small parcels of wine.

Tasting Notes
A co-fermented blend that leans into contrast. There’s lift and line from the Pinot, with a quiet grounding of Shiraz beneath. The nose opens brightly and immediately: red cherry, wild strawberry and a flicker of cranberry, edged with gentle spice and a light dusting of oak. There’s a softness to the aromatics, but also a sense of detail. Expect floral notes and a faint savoury thread sitting just under the fruit. On the palate, Pinot leads the way, giving clarity and flow. It’s supple and open through the front, before the Shiraz begins to assert itself. You’ll sense fine tannins building through the mid-palate and carrying into the finish. The year in barrel has knit it together, adding a quiet warmth and rounding the edges without overt weight. The finish lingers with a gentle grip (more felt than seen), leaving a balance of brightness and structure.

Pairing Suggestions
Works well with charcuterie, grilled mushrooms or duck with a light glaze. It also suits simple, fire-cooked dishes, such as lamb cutlets, sausages, or woodfired pizza; flavours where the wine’s lift and structure can both come into play.

Winemaking Notes
Pinot Noir and Shiraz co-planted, picked and fermented together from the Glenhope vineyard in the Macedon Ranges. We harvested large Shiraz bunches alongside smaller Pinot bunches in the same rows. This natural co-ferment allows the varieties to integrate early, rather than being blended post-ferment. The wine spent 12 months in barrel to bring cohesion, drawing out the bright, aromatic lift of Pinot while allowing Shiraz to contribute fine tannin and structure through the finish. It was made in a soft, restrained style, with an emphasis on balance and drinkability.
